Happy New Year 2026! · 1 January 2026
We start each New Year with just one day
A special one where we like to say,
“Happy New Year! To one and all.”
And everybody likes to repeat the call.
But perhaps we ought to treat each day
As if it is special in its own way
As if each day is heaven sent
Which is why we like to call it the present.
I know it sounds corny (like the last verse)
And I hope it does not make you want to curse
But living each day like it is the best day
Is probably the best and only way.
To live our lives the best we can
And give our best to each woman and man
To live our lives the whole day through
Like it means everything to me and you.
For we do not know when our time is through
It is not dependent on me or you
And so we must live each day to the fullest
Not worrying whether a word rhymes with fullest.
This rhyme is corny but it is almost done
I hope you live each day as the only one
Like New Year’s Day, each day is great!
And each sunrise, we should celebrate.
